I think I may recommend writing specifically because there's no need for any equipment beyond a computer — and even that can be skipped if necessary. But freelancing in general — I think it's an ideal option for a lot of career paths. That’s very true! Lots of my friends who got downsized, found work in their field from home, that eventually became either full time or led to a job in another company.
