Hi!

Great reminder!

I mean you'd really think this would be common sense, wouldn't you?

Confusing the contact is never a good thing. However, I've seen business cards with so many different things on them that I'm hard put to find the contact information.

I currently have three sets of cards: one for my jewellery business, one for my blog/writing, and one for my knitting.

I can totally relate to this one! I try to avoid mentioning my age (which is why my graduation year is conspicuously missing from my resume, I just say that I graduated with honors with a BS), but sometimes editors ask. Now that I'm in my mid-twenties, though, I don't feel quite as green as I did a few years ago.

Interesting article. You're right that hard work can overcome even the 'disability' of youth. In fact, on occasion, youth coupled with professional attitude and good writing is more impressive than age and experience with the same accomplishments. At the same time, I too have received rejections based entirely on my perceived inability to provide good content because of my youth... Still, we must keep plugging away!

I managed to enrage a bunch of virtual assistants, but suggesting that they probably aren't an excellent career coach/marketing expert AND a virtual assistant. (http://www.productivity501.com/offending-the-entire-va-industry/879/)

When someone asks what I do, the answer will depend entirely on the context.

I am contributing editor for a local women's magazine, so the subjects I interview are all in our small city of 130,000 people (so there really is no excuse for me not to meet them in person). I write profiles for the magazine, so it is important for me to conduct my interviews in person. Then I can redirect the questions as needed and I get a better understanding of what this person is all about. They do take more time and cause me a little anxiety beforehand, but I am always glad I made the in person connection. It makes the article easier to write.
