Blogger For Hire: Blogging and online content are the fastest growing opportunities for freelance writers these days. But landing a blogging gig isn’t just a question of writing skill — audiences will learn about the social media requirements for blogging, how to build up a portfolio and what clients really want when they ask for promotion. They’ll also get important information on how to negotiate a blogging opportunity, what to look for in a contract and even what pay rates are reasonable for different gigs.
The Business of Freelancing: Freelancing is a type of business, but many freelance writers aren’t as comfortable as they could be with business tasks like marketing. This presentation focuses learning to see a freelancing career as a business, as well as discussing how that business can grow. It includes tips for bringing marketing, taxes and other tough tasks inside the comfort zone.
The Social Media Crash Course: Social media makes for a great way to land freelancing gigs — if you know what you’re doing. This presentation offers a crash course for writers new to social media on how to create an online presence, connect with editors and clients, and market themselves through social networking sites. This presentation isn’t just a run-through of Twitter and similar sites. It digs deep, beyond popular sites, to create a lasting strategy that a writer can use on any social networking site.
